Katie McCormick

How did you first come to GCC? Why did you stay?
I was invited to attend a Bible Study, and I loved it here. A few years later we were looking for a new church and I remembered GCC. We have been here ever since!

What place you would like to visit before you die, and why?
Hawaii. It just looks so beautiful and peaceful

What is your favorite food?
Pizza. Gino’s East—I am a Chicago girl.

Favorite season? Why?
Fall—it’s so romantic and beautiful, and the beginning of comfort foods!

What was your first job?
I was a waitress at a retirement community in Arlington Heights, IL called The Moorings. I loved working there!

What’s one of your proudest moments?
The births of my children, and praying with my kids when they accepted Christ.

What’s something God has been teaching you?
On a mission trip to Nicaragua a few years ago, we visited a desolate area we called “The Pines.” Here we witnessed garbage trucks emptying their full trucks in piles and families digging through the trash to find what they need to survive. Food, clothing, shoes, and lots of other items were reused for this group of people who literally had nothing. While parents searched, their children played in these heaps. I am changed forever because of this experience, and I am so grateful we had a moment to tell them they matter to us and to God.

What is your role at GCC?
