Bryant Haist

How did you first come to GCC? Why did you stay?
A friend invited us. We loved every part of our experience from the parking lot first impression, through the worship to the sermon.

What is your favorite food?
Mexican

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Yes—all of them. Oh, but birthday cake-remix at Coldstone for special occasions.

What is your favorite season? Why?
Fall. It is so comfortable and beautiful. I love the cooler nights and the warmer days. Farmers are harvesting the crops and there is just something deeply spiritual about that time—that and my birthday is in October, and I have a selfishness problem.

Your first job?
When I was 12–13, a local farmer hired my brother and I to be farm hands. Our main responsibility was to walk up and down the rows either pull the weeds or use the hoe to chop them out. This was before the mass production of round-up ready crops. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, once in a while we would get to walk the fields behind a tractor and pick up rocks.

What inspires you?
I am inspired when I see people loving others the way Jesus does—consistent, sacrificial, genuine, and life-giving!

What was your childhood ambition?
I wanted to be Superman when I grew up. Everything was moving along nicely in my training until the laser beam from the eyes lesson. I needed my glasses to see and the laser wouldn’t work right. Super frustrating.
