DO THIS:

MORNING TIME

Write Colossians 3:13 on a note and place in your preteen's school folder, lunchbox, or on the refrigerator. Encourage them to memorize it and if they do, maybe grab a special treat with them to celebrate the importance of forgiveness.

DRIVE TIME

While in the car, ask your preteen, "Is there anything that is keeping you from forgiving someone?" Try to talk through it; what happened, why it's hard to forgive, and then how we can lose when we choose to not forgive someone. Tell about a time you had to choose forgiveness even when you didn't want to.

MEAL TIME

Q&A for Parents: What's the biggest restoration project (e.g. room makeover, house flip, etc.) you've ever taken on?
Q&A for Kids: What's the biggest thing someone's ever forgiven you for doing? How did you feel before and after?

BED TIME

God says that loving others means making the first move. Whether you need to be forgiven or whether you need to forgive, if something is wrong between you and someone else, you need to take a step to make things right. You might even say that choosing to make peace with others through forgiveness is one of the best gifts you can give God! Pray that God will help you make the first move to forgive.
