We also want to help with relief towards the people affected by Hurricane Irma, and are currently assessing the ways to best offer help. We are now offering one Hurricane Relief account that will help with aid from both storms.
Please pray for those affected by both of these catastrophic events, and pray for relief workers who are rushing to provide emergency aid. Also, take a few minutes to thank God for all the people on the ground in Texas, Florida, and the islands, giving of their time to help strangers and neighbors.
FOOD AND SUPPLIES
We collected supplies and purchased food that is currently on a semi and on it’s way to Texas, through partnering with World Compassion Network, an organization based out of Warsaw, Indiana. We collected enough supplies to also fill a semi that will be headed to Florida soon, and are no longer accepting donations of supplies. If you want to still help, you can still give money to help purchase food, personal care items and cleaning supplies. You can do this online, during the weekend offering by indicating “Hurricane Relief” on the memo line of a check, through the giving kiosk or stop by Guest Services for an envelope to donate cash.
We know many of us will be inclined to want to donate water, clothing or food. There are many people across our country (and world!) donating items to send to Texas, and some items they already have more than is the current need. We are following the recommendations of our partners on the ground of what we can do to best help the victims of this disaster. Please only bring these four types of items to fill the semi, and then we will use all the money given towards this relief effort to buy food and personal care items specific to what is needed.
There is an emergency need for blood and platelet donors. You can donate locally to help in this way.
We will continue to update this page as we find other ways we can help as the relief aid continues.
