We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of what God is doing in Appalachia.
What are we doing in Appalachia?
We’ll be partnering with the Central Mennonite Committee, specifically with their ministry called Sharing with Appalachian People. SWAP partners with a local church and food pantry, and through those relationships, identifies people in the community who can’t afford to provide basic repairs to their homes. We will come alongside SWAP and help meet the needs of the families who have been identified.
Our group will participate in work ranging from painting and repairing porches to replacing leaky roofs, adding rooms and doing basic renovations. Ministry participants should be prepared to get hot and dirty while keeping a smile on their faces! Our group will meet several evenings during the week to worship and reflect on what we’re experiencing. We’ll be challenged to compare our lifestyles with those whom we serve, and consider Christlike responses to issues of poverty and powerlessness.
Dates: Monday, April 30–Saturday, May 5

construction and home repairs. You do not need to be skilled in either of these
